Chinese auto supplier Great Wall Motor’s chip subsidiary schedules operating its third-generation semiconductor module packaging and testing project by year end

(JW Insights) May 17 -- Wuxi Xindong Semiconductor Technology (无锡芯动半导体科技), a subsidiary of Chinese auto giant Great Wall Motor, will start operating third-generation semiconductor module packaging and testing project by the end of the year, said local authorities in Wuxi, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.

The project started construction in February, with a total investment of RMB800 million (about $115 million). Its construction area covers about 30,000 square meters. It has a planned annual production capacity of 1.2 million sets of automobile modules for use in new energy vehicles, charging piles, and energy storage.

On November 1, 2022, Great Wall Motor incorporated Xindong Semiconductor with a registered capital of RMB50 million ($7.18 million). The company focused on IC in the automotive and energy fields.

Local authorities also disclosed information on another semiconductor project called the Kaiweitesi (凯威特斯) semiconductor equipment parts remanufacturing project. With an investment of RMB500 million ($71.42 million), the project will be put into production in March 2024, making 200,000 sets of semiconductor spare parts and cleaning 400,000 sets annually.
