Dongfeng Motor Group established a joint laboratory to develop automotive chips in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, with local IC design house Fisilink, the Yangtze River Daily reports.

Dongfeng Motor Group runs the joint lab through its technical center and focuses on MCU chips for automotive. The lab also covers intelligent driving, communication infrastructure, and demonstration operations.

Dongfeng Motor is a well-known state-owned automobile manufacturer with decades of history in Wuhan. Its main businesses are manufacturing and selling commercial and passenger vehicles, auto parts, automobile equipment, logistics services, financing services, and used car trading.

Fisilink Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (飞思灵) is an IC design company specializing in optical communications. Its key shareholder is China Information Communication Technologies Group Corporation (CICT中国信科), with its member groups being the pioneers in China’s fiber-optical communication R&D. With 38,000 employees, CICT generates over RMB60 billion ($9.2 billion) in revenue yearly. It provides technologies and products of optical and mobile communications, optoelectronics and integrated electronics, and network security to Chinese and global markets.

Founded in 2015, Fisilink is located in the “Optics Valley” of the city’s district of electronics and high tech industry in southeastern Wuhan.
