As Nvidia transformed from niche maker to chip manufacturer, its ambition never stopped growing. Within two years, Nvidia has proposed two major acquisitions related to high performance computing technologies and successfully completed purchase of Mellanox for $7 billion. Though the acquisition of Arm still undergoes a lot of questions and objections, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, seemed confident at the annual GTC and said the deal would come through by 2022. In this video, JW Insights invited Dr. Jack Dongarra to talk about Nvidia’s growing ambition in supercomputing area. Dr. Dongarra formed and contributes to the TOP500 list. He holds appointments at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and teaches computer science at various universities.
